[Stream] Conor Oberst- “Hundreds of Ways”

Conor Oberst

Last year, I saw Desaparecidos (Oberst’s early 2000 Post-Hardcore band) play a solid show at the Fonda on the LA stop of their reunion tour. During the last notes, I began to wonder when (and if) Oberst was going to release another record under his name. As I perused my emails earlier this morning, I got my answer; he is, and it’s coming out on May 20.

The name of the record is Upside Down Mountain, and will see its release via the Nonesuch imprint. It was recorded in Nashville with Jonathan Wilson heading the production, and features vocal contributions from First Aid Kit. Our first taste of the Country-tinged album comes in the form of “Hundreds of Ways.” I like the feel of this song. Then again, I’ve seemed to enjoy his work more under the guise of Conor Oberst than his Bright Eyes material.

If you’re into limited edition vinyl, then you might want to make your way to your local record store on April 19 (Record Store Day) and purchase the 7″ of “Hundred of Ways” which will feature outtake “Fast Friends.” If not, May 20 is the day to remember.
