Outkast to Reunite (and Headline) Coachella 2014?

For me, Coachella season, begins around this time of the year. It’s when we’re a couple of months away from finding out who made the bill, and who didn’t; it’s also the point when all the rumors start circulating, and when certain “insider” information tends to leak. Today, was one of those “insider” information days, and it was a mighty big one at that.

According to Billboard, Hip-Hop legends Outkast are purportedly reuniting for Coachella 2014. This info was further expounded on, and perhaps legitimized (?!), by Sleepy Brown (member of Atlanta production trio Organized Noise/and member of the Dungeon Family) when he posted a photo with the headline: “Outkast Headlining Coachella 2014.” Amazing, right?  Apparently, the first weekend of Coachella, which takes place April 11-13, will be the start of their reunion tour with more dates to follow after the fest. Of course, if this all comes to fruition, Coachella 2014, will be the first time the duo grace the stage together as Outkast since they went on hiatus in 2007; a good seven years ago.

This, of course, will also throw a wrench in my predictions. Bummer. If you had asked me before this revelation, I would have told you that my money was on the following as headliners: Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, and Arcade Fire. Then again, I could be entirely right, and Outkast could be closing out the Outdoor stage like Wu-Tang Clan did this year instead of “headlining” the main stage. I guess we won’t fully know for sure until mid January when they unveil the line-up. Until then, I’ll continue to put my money on the aforementioned three predictions, and see what happens. What do I got to lose, right?

A few other acts I see making an appearance at the Polo Fields in 2014 are: AlunaGeorge, the Breeders, Chvrches, Crystal Fighters, Gogol Bordello, HAIM, Holograms, Holy Ghost!, Jagwar Ma, King Krule, the Knife, London Grammar, Lorde, the Naked and Famous, Neutral Milk Hotel, the Pixies, Rhye, Ride, Sebadoh, Volcano Choir, and Washed Out. Of course, this is pure speculation on my part. In two months time, we’ll all know for sure.
