Coachella 2015 Lineup Revealed

Yesterday, the folks over at Goldenvoice revealed the lineup for this years Coachella, and as accustomed, across the internet feelings were mixed. There were those that viewed this as the “worst line-up in history” and those that, like me, saw a lot of cool stuff in-between the lines. Personally, at least in the past three years, I’ve looked forward to seeing what’s on the undercard more than the headliners themselves. This year is no exception.

Headliner-wise, it’s a mixed bag. First, you have AC/DC. A band with a place in the pantheon of Rock n’ Roll. And, frankly, the surprise choice of the bunch. Very few, if anyone, expected this to happen. This one, at least to me, has a Goldenvoice Dream Headliners wish list feel to it. That aside, I’ll be part of (that more than likely, small) crowd checking them out. Next up, you have Jack White. A headliner that I expected to happen. And one that, out of the three, I’m looking forward to seeing. Closing out the fest, you have Drake. This one, while I like some stuff, I could care less about. I look at this as my opportunity to get out of the fest before the parking lots get hectic.

As I mentioned before, there’s a lot of cool stuff on the undercard. Some are Coachella vets: Florence + the Machine, the Weeknd, Interpol, Cloud Nothings, Belle & Sebastian, Jenny Lewis, Tame Impala, Panda Bear, Marques Wyatt, Porter Robinson, SBTRKT, etc. And some that are new to the fest: Charles Bradley, Benjamin Booker, Touché Amoré, Angel Olsen, Ride, Desaparecidos, Drive Like Jehu, Todd Terje, Sylvan Esso, Royal Blood, and Jungle, to name a few. Like I said, for a few years running now, the undercard is much better than the headliners.

The remaining allotment of wristbands go on-sale today at 12pm. Even with the lack of enthusiasm for this lineup, Coachella 2015 will sell out, so get on there early. In the interim, check out my Coachella 2015 playlist. For those of you trying to get a wristband, good luck. For those of you with one, I’ll see you there.
