The line-up for the 2018 edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is here. As we’ve grown accustomed to in the past few years, it’s a mixed bag. Some surprises, some not-so-surprising, and some real headscratchers.

Headliner-wise, it’s the Weeknd, Beyoncé, and Eminem. Beyoncé was a given seeing as she canceled last year to give birth to twins, and her booking got moved to 2018. Eminem just released a new album—judging from the reviews, it’s his worst—and his booking makes sense regardless of the lame record. The Weeknd performed in 2015, and the performance was lackluster to say the least, so it’s surprising that they would bring him back.

Undercard-wise, there are some surprises and a lot of repeats from previous years. Left-field bookings this year are David Byrne, the frontman for the seminal rock band the Talking Heads. Chic, the 80’s disco and funk group that wrote such catchy hits like “Good Times,” and “Le Freak.” And rounding it out, Jamiroquai, the acid-jazz/funk-pop band from the 90’s that had that cool video for their song “Virtual Insanity.”

That aside, other Something For All Of Us favorites, are SZA, St. Vincent, HAIM, Portugal. The Man, the War On Drugs, Fleet Foxes, Angel Olsen, Miguel, Kamasi Washington, Jessie Ware, Jungle, Chromeo, LANY, Hundred Waters, Greta Van Fleet, and the Drums, to name a few,

For those of you without a wristband for (either) weekend, the remaining allotment of them goes on-sale Friday at 12. Good luck! See you in four months, Indio!

The first day of the New Year and the Music Festival Season is already visible on the horizon. Goldenvoice‘s Arroyo Seco Weekend, which saw its debut last year, has announced its dates for this year’s edition. The two-day fest which takes place in Brookside at the Rose Bowl will take place on June 23 and 24. Passes for the fest, and the actual line-up will more than likely pop up a couple of weeks after Goldenvoice reveals the line-up for that other fest of theirs in the coming days. You know which one. Yep. That one.

The lineup for the 2016 edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is here. If you put aside the fact that all three headliners were leaked—and in some way confirmed—several months ago, there are some actual surprises in the mix. Such as the return of Underworld, and the appearance of Ice Cube, Sufjan Stevens and, well, Sia. That said, apart from some glaring omissions (see: Kendrick Lamar, D’Angelo, Slowdive, and Sleater-Kinney, to name a few) this lineup is actually stacked.

Friday is insane, and will more than likely end up being cluster-fuck-chella when it comes to set-times, and conflicts. Especially towards the end of the night. Saturday has the possibility of being one as well, but on a slightly smaller scale. And Sunday will be the mellowest day of the three, since it’s the least stacked of them. All in all, there’s a lot that I want to see, and not a whole lot that I don’t. Which in years passed hasn’t always been the case, and for this reason I’m actually content with the lineup. That’s just odd.

The remaining allotment of wristbands, of which I’m sure there aren’t many, go on-sale on Wednesday January 6 at 11am. Instructions for that whole process is available here. And, while you wait, you can get yourself in the mood by playing this Coachella primer. See you there.
